Charlie, a Chihuahua puppy, has a fascinating transformation story. The five-month-old pup had cactus prickles all over his body when he arrived at animal control. He was undoubtedly in extreme pain, but fortunately, veterinarians and rescue organizations helped end his discomfort.
In Arizona, animal control services found the poor pup wandering around the streets, with almost his entire body covered in cactus spikes. Right away, they brought him to a local animal shelter.
The staff at the shelter determined that the cactus spines covering the pup’s body were those of cholla cactus. Somehow, Charlie got tangled up with a cactus, which left cactus spikes on his tiny body.
Immediately, the pup underwent surgery to remove all the cactus spines. After removing all the prickles, vets kept Charlie under observation. Fortunately, everything went well, and a foster family took him in after his recovery.
After a month, Charlie went available for adoption, and several dog lovers were interested in adopting him.
Unsurprisingly, only a few days passed, and the pup already found his forever family! Understandably, many applicants became upset that they missed out on adopting Charlie. However, the shelter wants to remind everyone that many other shelter dogs are waiting to get adopted.
According to the shelter, Charlie is only one of the thousands of animals who had been sick, injured, or abused. Thus, they would like to encourage everyone to adopt pets from animal shelters and rescue organizations instead of buying one.
Thus, even though Charlie has finally found a family, several other dogs out there need a family who will love them and take care of them responsibly. Many shelter and rescue dogs have been through such painful situations as that of Charlie. Thus, they also deserve some comfort for the remaining part of their lives.
