The phu quoc or The Phu Quoc Ridgeback is a breed dog originary from the Vietnamese island of Phu Quoc, located in the southern region of Vietnam. This dog has a particularity that has a ridge of hair that comes from the back to the rest of the coat.
This dog is so rare that there are just 700 purebred dogs registered and recognised by Vietnamese experts. The Phu Quoc is known for its abilities to swim and jump really high and faster, they also love to hunt and chase other animals.
Besides that is a hunting dog that can also protect our home. They are lovely, loyal and obedient with its owners. They are also a curious and intelligent breed that is always interested and loves to learn new things and commands.
Training a Phu Quoc

When you look for a Phu Quoc you need to check his ears, the ridgeback of hair, the legs must be kinda curvy and flat at the same time. This is pretty important because as good climbers and swimmers they need to move and flex their legs enough to do these actions very well.
As a very active dog you will need to lock them up twice a day for about 30 min, This is necessary to make them a bit quite. In a hunting trip you will need the dog to be active but not much too much to scare any game.
Relationship between phu quoc and owners
Some people will say that this breed is annoying and it will make your life miserable. But that is not true, the conduct of this dog will entirely depend on the breeder and the way it’s trained the Phu Quoc.
