Imagine going out for food so you can provide for your puppies and come back to find them gone.
Navalina is a mother dog who was finding shelter in a citrus grove. She needed to leave her puppies behind as she was out looking for food one day.
A few kids were walking around and saw the puppies. The kids thought that they were abandoned, so they took the puppies with them.
The kids bottle-fed the puppies for two days. They had no idea that the mother dog was out looking for her babies.
A rescue group wanted to help Navalina. They talked the children into giving up the puppies. The kids were kind enough to understand the whole ordeal.
The rescuers went back to the area and used the puppies to lure the mother. They also gave her a few treats so they can gain her trust. Unfortunately, Navalina became very defensive.
She became quite aggressive too. Finding strangers near her children was not what she wanted to see.
The rescuers were worried that she might run off if they approach her. They had to take things slow.
They slowly and calmly approached her. This strategy of the volunteers worked, and they were able to capture the mother.
Once she was reunited with her puppies, Navalina started to relax. She also gave in to her hunger and ate the treats that the rescuers offered.
The family was bought to the vet and was checked. Navalina and her puppies are finally safe.
Navalina no longer needs to leave her puppies just to find food. They are now provided with more than enough.
Navalina may have been fearful in the beginning, but now, she’s thankful. Thanks to the rescuers, she and her family get to have a good life.
