Volunteers from an organization got a call one day about a homeless chihuahua. A few rescuers responded to the caller’s report. When the rescuers found the canine, the poor dog was barking and cowering in the corner of a stranger’s house.

The homeowner was kind enough to feed the dog but knew that the dog needed a proper home. A few other rescuers from different rescue organizations also showed up to help. They also heard about the dog and stopped by to see what they can do to assist.

The canine named ChiChi was very wary of people. She was shaking in fear seeing all the rescuers.

When one of the rescuers tried to reach out to her, she attempted to bite her. The rescuers needed to take things slow with ChiChi. Her anxiety level is too high with strangers around her.

ChiChi continued shaking. The rescuers knew that it was only because she was too scared.

The rescuers wanted to get her out of the area and into a better environment. Maybe then ChiChi can relax. The volunteers carefully placed a leash on her and brought her to the vet.

There, ChiChi got a much-needed bath. She was also given a preview on what a loving family can give. The rescue workers spent hours just cuddling and petting her.

It made a whole lot of difference. On ChiChi’s first day in the shelter, she was very withdrawn. She even looked defeated.

One day of getting love and attention from the rescuers made her a completely different dog. The very next day, she was up and running. ChiChi has completely opened up.

Her tail was wagging non-stop, and she was interacting with rescuers and other dogs. She looked very happy. It might have been the day that she realized she was safe.

ChiChi got fostered and will one day find her forever home. ChiChi’s story showed how genuine love and attention could change a dog.
