Juko, the big game hunter

Juko is a Karelian Bear dog that was imported from Finland cause this breed cannot be found in America or isn’t too common among dog breeders.  The Karelian Bear Dog sometimes can be  a quarrelsome breed with other dogs.

This breed likes to bark a lot, could be a noisy dog but it is in nature as to be quarrelsome and noisy. Brad tell us that this dog need you to know understand his behavior, socializing with him tell you what does he loves and who his loves.

At first they definitely are suspicious of people, being kinda hard to make a first contact with him. You treat him right and he will treat you well as the same way, if another  dog is aggressive with him he will respond it in the same way.

Karelian bear dog as a hunter or pet

The main purpose of  many owners that decided to acquire  a Karelian Dog is to hunt big animals or small as well. They can familiarize with a family too but they are energetic dogs that need to run, play and enjoying things that dogs do too.

They have a good noise so when hunting bears they can smell them very well and track them successfully. Brad takes the karelian bear dog with him to the Woods and he just recognizes the area but he doesn’t go too far from him

They could be serious and obedient dogs his only problem as we said previously is that they can be too noisy if you leave them alone in a yard.

From puppy to adult

An important recommendation if you want to acquire this dog breed for you is that if you own it since puppy is just to let him enjoy his puppyhood properly while you teach him how to behave and familiarize with your lifestyle and family.

Despite it’s an quarrelsome breed it could be a lovely dog with kids and family but you will need to incentive him with treats. Eventually the dog will understand the concept between family and hunting.

To breed them properly you need to understand his history, origins and his behaviour. He could be a ferocious dog while hunting and a lovely dog when he is sharing with the family and the kids so it’s important to understand how the dog feels in these situations.
