The first thing to think is that should I even feed my dog on a schedule or should we leave the bowl out all right leaving the bowl out and just lay the dog gray. This is called free feeding, free-feeding is not recommended because it’s very hard to gauge how much your dog ate and the way it ate.

The reason why that’s important is that the number one thing that a dog who is sick will do is stop eating, so if we’re free-feeding it’s very difficult to know.

Setting the schedule

We need to dig on a schedule and by example give food to our dog every day at 7:00 in the morning to have breakfast. And then at 7:00 at night every day, the dog gets dinner. So if one day you notice that your dog doesn’t eat its breakfast that could mean that something is happening to it. Another thing to take into consideration is that depends on the age of the dog you will make a different schedule specialized for every age because of their organisms.

Feeding puppies

This stage of the dog is between eight weeks and six months, they should be getting food like four times a day, you have to organize it and split it for whatever works your schedule once in the morning at 7 am then we will feed again maybe around 11 am, then a little sack around 3 in the afternoon and finally at 7 o’clock in the night.

A more adult phase

Once they get to six months we can cut back to two or three times a day, being realistic two times is ideal for your dog. This schedule can be applied to a more adult phase of the dog for the rest of their lives.

But you still need a consistent schedule, because if you are training our dog and you feed them every single day at the same time it makes house training easier because you’re going to know when they have to go to the bathroom.

Making an eating schedule for your dog will help you to know when it’s gonna poop making a health training, sometimes you should not feed your dog only with food bowls you can also use puzzle toys, busy buddies. This helps you with the training of your dog at the same time they’re eating. When you put the food in a food bowl the food’s gone in 30 seconds.

For this reason, is better to put the food into some toys to stimulate the dog’s mind while they are eating at the same it gets physical exercise from playing with the toys and after the meal it’s tired.
