Sandy is very protective of the family that he has been with since he was a little puppy. He makes it a point to know exactly where each of them is. That way, he can keep an eye on things and ensure that they are all safe.
Sandy’s mom, Karen Manthey, said that the pup wants to get involved in everything they do. He is bummed whenever they leave his care. Even when they are on a camping trip, and some are at the lake, while the others are at the campsite half a mile away, Sandy would run back and forth to check and ensure that everyone is safe.
Every day, Sandy also tries to follow the kids as they walk to school. Sometimes, he would sneak out of the door and try to walk with them. However, the kids always catch him, and they send him home before he makes it too far.
One day, Sandy got a little extra sneaky. The kids were also distracted, so Sandy managed to get out of the house and reach the school with no one noticing him.
Everyone at the school was hysterical when Sandy arrived. They sent him to the principal’s office, where he was supposed to wait for his mom to pick him up. However, because they could not get in touch with her, one of the kids walked Sandy back home instead. His mom was so shocked upon seeing the guilty dog.
Karen did not realize that Sandy was missing until her daughter showed up with him. According to Karen, her phone was turned off. Her neighbor, who was at the school, took a photo and asked if the dog was hers.
They live near the school, so they allowed her daughter to take Sandy home. Of course, the two were thrilled with the little adventure.
Because Sandy seemed to have so much fun that day, Karen believes that Sandy will try to sneak off again in the future. However, she felt terrible for the commotion, so Karen stopped by the school to apologize and pay for the blinds. The school janitor was so cool, though, and already had it replaced. The only thing that they asked was for Karen to email Sandy’s infamous picture at the principal’s office.
Usually, Sandy is very good at following rules. However, as Karen said, sometimes, his heart overtakes his obedience training.
