Chris Lodge, a devoted dog dad, became very concerned when his 12-year-old boxer, Dice, was diagnosed with heart murmurs. Since Chris felt he could not leave Dice behind when taking a vacation, he decided to create a vacation destination right in his own property, especially for Dice.
For Chris, Dice is more than just a dog. Dice is part of the family. So when Chris found out that Dice has heart murmurs, he made a couple of adjustments in his lifestyle to accommodate Dice’s needs.
Heart murmurs in dogs can cause seizures, so Dice needed to stay calm and relaxed at all times. This meant that Dice could not go for long walks or travel. Since the diagnosis, Chris stopped making vacation plans so he could stay with Dice all the time.
But that doesn’t mean Dice can’t have a fun and relaxing time while at home. Instead of taking vacations elsewhere, Chris decided to bring that vacation getaway right at his own backyard.
A doggie paradise
Chris spent three years building a tropical garden in his home. It has everything that you’d dream of for a paradise: a tiki hut, koi pond, and a waterfall. To complete the vibe, Chris placed several tropical plants and trees as well.
The tropical garden took three years to complete and cost several thousand dollars. But for Chris, all the time and money he spent in this garden is worth it.
When the project was completed, the garden served as a vacation getaway for him, his wife, and of course, Dice. Dice loves to nap on the bridge and listen to the calming sounds from the waterfall.
Chris and his wife don’t have a baby, so they’ve come to love Dice like their own son. Some people may say that this was too much for a dog, but Chris believes that Dice deserves the best. Well, Dice sure is lucky. He gets to spend every single day like its a holiday.
